Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution
After watching the film, my response is feeling the pain and suffering the first-hand
experiencers felt. According to the film, the Black Panther Party was not expected to be a nation-
wide organization, they just wanted to fight the problems in Oakland, California. It was meant to
be seen as a peaceful organization fighting for justice and equality for black people. And
although the party stressed their use of nonviolence, government and police saw the party as a
threat and saw their carrying of weapons as a symbol and threat of violence. The party ran on a
10-point plan which did not include violence, but justice. Panthers were still attacked and
