Black Diamond Equipment
For my first BAP professional meeting I decided to watch one about Black Diamond
Equipment. I am familiar with this company and thought it would be interesting to hear what
people who work there have to say about being a professional and opportunities. Trevor,
Bobby, and Jeff were the three speakers for Black Diamond, all of which hold a position in the
accounting department.
One thing that I really enjoyed about this presentation was that each of them had
different backgrounds or wanted to do different things before they went into accounting.
Trevor had a sales background and mentioned how he enjoyed accounting so much because he
was involved in other aspects of Black Diamond and he wasn’t confined to just the accounting
department. He was able to work with purchasing, warehouse departments, sales and
operations to help the company as a whole and accomplish different goals. I really related to
this with my current job and feel that being involved in multiple aspects of a business is what
makes accounting interesting. I currently work for a dietary supplement manufacturer and I feel
that I am always working directly with different departments at my job. Not only is there
communication, but I can see things they can improve to help the company in ways they didn’t
realize were possible.
