This scholarly article outlines immigration trends and statistics over the history of the
United States. After these trends are presented the authors take time to answer questions or
disprove stereotypes that immigrants fail to integrate into US society and lower wages for
existing workers. This article reviews historical and contemporary migrant flows, gives the
reader new insights on migrant selection, assimilation of immigrants into US economy and
society, and the effect of immigration on the labor market. This source might be my most
useful because of the way that the information is presented in an unbiased fashion. The
authors use data to persuade the reader instead of emotional appeal. This source added a
new dimension to my essay to show my audience that we should not just reform the
immigration system out of good faith but that we also have much to benefit from
immigrant labor.
