The article “Identifying the biological clock that governs female fertility” on
biologynews.net talks about how the researchers have possibly made a great discovery in
figuring out the biological time clock od the time females have to have children in their
life time. The article also talks about discovering medications for women with infertility
problems. The age women can have children is different for every woman. Some women
can have children only until about 30 years of age. Other woman can until about 40 and
some can have children all the way to age 50. Infertility affects a good percent of woman
in the world as well and making a medicine to help it would be amazing for those women.
This article relates to the course because it has to do with reproduction. The past two
weeks, the lessons have been about reproduction and genetics. This article goes right along
with it. This week with with chapter 8 it talks about meiosis and sexual reproduction and
the biological clock has a lot to do with this. Once the woman runs out of eggs, she cannot
reproduce anymore. If the woman knew exactly what her biological was, she would know
the best time to have children would be before it’s too late.
