Human Biology: Lab Report
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effects of osmosis on eggs in different
solutions. Each egg came from the same container. Also, Each egg had a shell in the
beginning of the experiment and had its shell removed, except one. After removing the
eggshell, the inside will be cover by a semi-permeable membrane where only water can
pass through. I want to see the results of placing each egg in different solutions.
Protocol:
1. Gathered the materials for the experiment.
2. Grabbed vinegar, 6 eggs, one pot, 6 cups, corn syrup, salt, 1 glass pan, and water.
3. Inspected each egg to ensure they weren’t cracked or deformed.
4. Allowed my son to test each individual egg for shell and taste.
5. Allowed son to break eggs to illustrate that eggs are not indestructible and demonstrate a
positive control that there are indeed eggs inside the eggshells.
