Two Key Steps in the Evolution of Human Cooperation by Tomasello is about how they
hypothesized that human cooperation occurred in two distinct steps propagated by mutualism
between humans. In the experiment, they studied different primates and saw how
chimpanzees are the only other primate to collaboratively forage. When comparing them to
human infants, it was shown that the babies had an innate sense of cooperation that the
chimpanzees didn’t have. The small scale collaboration and group level collaboration are an
essential part to the Interdependence Hypothesis and how they theorize on how cooperation
came to be
I both agree and disagree with the paper. I agree that there are different steps on the evolution
of human cooperation, but I believe that it is in a bigger spectrum than what most people think.
