Big data is used to describe large amounts of structured and unstructured data. Big data helps
improve company’s everyday by improving operations and helping companies make faster and more
intelligent decisions. In the field of Human Resources Big Data is being invested by more than 60% of
their companies to make their departments more data-driven and easier to understand.
Google is an example of a company trying to incorporate Big Data into their Human Resources
department. Google was evaluating their hiring process and whether the companies analyzed data of job
interviewing was effective or not. It turned out that the project was failing in the goal to identify who
would be particularly good at the job they were hiring, but it did succeed in things such as the correct
number of people who can be hired for each position and what attributes that predict success at Google.
