Beowulf: Christian or Pagan?
“Who doubts that God in His wisdom and strength holds the earth forever in His
hands?” (700-702). Beowulf is a pagan story told by a Christian poet. Through out
Beowulf there is a constant reminder that God is real and that He has a hand in men’s
lives. The poem, Beowulf, attempts to inject Christian beliefs into a pagan society.
Despite the extolling of ancient Germanic practices, the hero, Beowulf is decidedly
