The Historic Hero – Beowulf

Beowulf, the historic hero who lives on and on even though the story is very old it is
still very popular and famous among the people. The fairy tale takes place in 6th century in
the Scandinavian countries Sweden and Denmark and the Swedish word for fairy tale is
”saga”. It was during it so called Anglo-Saxon period (5th-11th century) were heroism and
heroic ideals became significant to people. For example, Beowulf was one of the poetries
from Anglo-Saxon period who people got very fascinated from the character who performed
great feats of strength and courage. A lot of people during Anglo-Saxon period looked up to
this character as a hero in order to face difficult and dangerous situations because during that
period of time it wasn’t easy to live when death and danger were constantly around the cor-
ner. Beowulf is a great example of a perfect, glamorous hero. He did not only defend his own
