1.0 Abstract
Entrepreneurship has becoming a popular term currently among University
Utara Malaysia (UUM), but not all of entrepreneurs can succeed in entrepreneurial
business. This paper talks about how entrepreneur learn and manage their abilities,
behaviour and skills to help them obtain necessary capabilities to operate business in
the venture world. For example, we can learn how to generate a winning idea, how to
effective promote our products in the market and how to manage our financial and
human resources. Before starting an entrepreneurial business, entrepreneurs should
exploit an appropriate opportunity. Opportunity identification is critical in the process
of entrepreneurial world. And capturing necessary resources such as financial
resources, human resources are also necessary. The last step is to balance opportunity,
resources, and team so that the entrepreneurial business can be operated successfully.
2.0 Introduction
In recent years many UUM student operate street food in University Utara
Malaysia (UUM) has become a hot topic, with people flocking from miles around to
get a taste of the latest pop-up kitchen and develop a palate for the latest foodie craze.
Whether it’s an old fashioned food kiosk, a more modern street kitchen, a market stall
or a food festival, it’s evident that there’s money to be made in the street food business.
Besides, we found that college students who are very close to the next class time
or need to directly go to the next class have no time access to the usual restaurant
opening times. This will make them very difficult to concentrate on class. If a person
longer than four to five hours without eating, the body’s energy levels can crash
significantly. So, our group has planned to run a business selling snacks that have a
variety of types and flavours. The reason why our group will sell snacks is snack is
convenient and suitable to eat in anytime and anywhere even if you really do not have
time. For example, students can go to the next class while eating snacks so that they do
not feel hungry and it is more durable than heavy food.
Our product name is BACK TO 99’S. The reason why we chose this name is
because we realize that the birth years range of the UUM’s students is among 1990 to
1999, can expect they will know our products, and the most important is the type of
snacks we sell are very difficult to find in UUM areas. Even in some grocery shop, also
do not have these type of snacks. We believe that UUM students will be a good target
market, can easily reach the market and generate profit in the short period. This also
can help them to recall back their childhood memories.
Therefore, we identified the potential to selling our products at the surrounding
foyer School of Business Management (SBM) areas of faculty about 1 to 2 months to
resolve the problem of meal skipped. The originally food kiosk were created to bring
our main products which is childhood snack in small packet to our customers. We have
prepared a variety of flavored childhood snacks. Among them are Ice Gems Biscuit,
Tapioca Chips, Finger Biscuit, Choki-Choki and Popo Fish Muruku. Besides that, we
also selling at each student hostel and using a distribution strategy like door to door to
distribute our products to customers at UUM. This strategy makes it easier for UUM
students to receive purchased products without going out and students can pay money
when we get to their room.
At the same time, we also can learn how to doing a business, communicate with
customer, prepare the sales statement and do the after sales services. All the function of
the business will give us a big impact in future times and can teach the others people
when they are no idea in doing the business. So, we believe that this project will build
out a success entrepreneur in soft skills just like communication way, confidences level
and the services learning.
