Restorative Justice is a need in modern culture
In today’s society we often view potential sexual harassment, assault and other misconduct on
campus as black and white. While these are serious allegations, there are “grey” cases and it is important
not to make rush judgments until there is an opportunity for both sides to be heard. However, sometimes
the university disciplinary proceedings intended to provide due process are harmful for both parties
involved. The nature of the proceedings often prevents meaningful conversation about what happened,
apologies, and other communication that could promote timely resolution for both people involved. This
is too bad because they often have a mutual interest in resolving the situation o that they both can move
