Battle of Kings Mountain
The Battle of Kings Mountain was a battle between the Patriots, ones fighting for
freedom, and Loyalist, people who were loyal to Great Britain, during the American
Revolutionary War. The battle took place on October 7, 1780 by North Carolina.
Maj. Patrick Ferguson, leader of loyalist, was going to join Lt. Gen. Charles Cornwallis;
he learned that the Patriots were following him. Ferguson then turned south performing a hook
maneuver onto a ridgeline west of Charlotte. He put his men in defensive posture on a ridge
