How it Solves a Problem
The main incentive behind the proposal of Just-in-Time Distribution (JITD) program was to solve
the effect of fluctuating demand. Another problem to solve was the issue of stock out, which strain
logistic and manufacturing operations. The JITD program would be introduced to predict actual demand.
Barilla would more effectively be able to produce exact amounts to meet end-consumer’s needs and
would be able to more evenly distribute the workload on Barilla’s manufacturing and logistics systems.
Benefits
One of the benefits of the JITD program is that Barilla can make decisions about delivery and
enhance the forecasts for demand. Barilla will require its distributers to provide daily sales data so the
