Grasping the World
The mind is a terrible thing to waste. “All she does is read examples right off the exam,”
my high school classmates in history class said. I was thrilled about the outlook of obtaining an
easy A. After graduating, I realized just how much I had been cheated. Banking education
negatively affects the way we learn. The message I got in high school, is that the mind is a
valuable tool that can open the world to a person. And education is an entrance to more choices
and greater freedom, but has the present educational system accommodated the influence of a
person’s mind? If I asked Paulo Freire, he would say no.
