Question # 1. Explain the content and function of three types of navigation and support slides.
Many presentations have great content but can be a little lack luster or seem unorganized.
Navigation and support slides help in making presentations more appealing by adding additional
information in an organized manner. This essay will explain the content and function of different
types of navigation and support slides. There are three types of navigation and support slides.
Title slides, agenda and program details, and navigation slides are the three types of slides.
Title slides are introductory slides that give pertinent information about the presentation. Title
slides include the title/topic, your name, your department affiliation and your company affiliation
(Bovee, Thill, p.473, 2016). An additional slide can be used to let the audience know a little bit
about the presenter. This slide should have the speaker’s name and a list of his credentials
(Bovee, Thill, p.473).
The function of the agenda and program detail slides are to give the audience a visual description
of how time will be spent during the presentation. In other words, these slides are a basic
timeline of how the day will be spent. Items on these slides should consist of start and end times,
break times, and lunch times. Because presentations take time it’s advantageous to give the
audience a rundown of how their time will be spent. When the audience has this information
right away, they stay more focused during the presentation and tend to disrupt less.
Finally, navigation slides are visual aids to help the audience stay on track. One function of these
slides is to let the audience know what is coming. Presentations can cover a lot of information so
it’s easier for the audience to follow along if they know what has been covered and what is
