1. How might your child’s development have been different if s/he was raised by people
with a different socioeconomic, ethnic or cultural background? Base your answer on
specific evidence of SES/cultural differences from the textbook and class

If my child was raised by people with a different socioeconomic, ethnic or cultural
background he could have turned out very different. One reason my child would have turned
out different is because he would have received a different education thus affecting his IQ
and intelligence. Different groups earn different IQ’s, some lower, some higher depending
on their cultural background and socio economic status. “American black children and
adolescents score, on average, 10 to 12 points below American white children” (450).
American black children score below American white children, furthering my recent point on
Noah’s IQ being different had be been raised by a parent of a different culture. “Hispanic
children fall mid-way between black and white children” (450). My parents are Hispanic
since they were both born in Maracaibo Venezuela. If I had been raised by an American
white family, I would probably have acquired a higher IQ due to recent statistics. “The IQ
gap between middle-SES and low-SES children-about 9 points” suggests that if my
child’s IQ score would be different not only if he were raised by a different cultural
