Name: Yiran Wang
Introduction
In BA 351 project, the company I am researching is Shanghai Odin Architect & Design
Company. I worked in this company for one month (from Jun.27th to Jul.26th) during
2014 summer break. Shanghai Odin Architect & Design Company covers landscapes
design, architect design and remodel. My major is interior design and I worked there and
helped people do photoshop and CAD. Doing research of design company originations that
I have experienced is easier and I can also offer more details in my report. Therefore, in
this term project, I chose Shanghai Odin Architect & Design Company as my sample. The
four topics addressed in my report are:
(1) Chap 2: What management theory or combination do you believe the company has
adopted?
(2) Chap 3 & 4: Explain the company’s values and describe their impact on managerial
action. (3) Chap 10: Describe the type of organizational structure and why you believe the
organization has chosen this structure over the others.
(4) Chap 12: Explain the steps taken to recruit and select organizational members
Background:
Shanghai Odin Architect & Design Company was founded in early 2010. It is located at
1909 Dalian Rd, Yangpu District, Shanghai. It is a small and new company. It had 23 staff
and 4 college students who did internship there in 2014 Summer. The 23 staffers include 1
manager (he is also a senior architect), 1 senior architect, 1 marketing manager, 1 dustman
and 19 staffers who cover PhotoShop, SketchUp, CAD, hand-drawing work. A
twenty-three people design company in China is pretty small. Besides, most of staffers
working in this company are new graduates. They graduated from university last year or
two years ago. Shanghai Odin Architect & Design Company also offers some internship
opportunities to college students. Students can learn to the process of projects and how to
work in a group. Many projects in this company are remodel projects from government.
China government is working on remodeling some old towns and communities. Although
Shanghai Odin Architect & Design Company is new company, its designs always catches
people’s eye. Therefore, officers introduce the company more remodel projects.

Chap 2: What management theory or combination do you believe the company has
adopted?
The management theory in this company is Theory X. Shanghai Odin Architect & Design
