9-1. What are the basic differences between management and leadership?
Leadership refers to the processes and behaviors used by someone to motivate, inspire, and
influence the behaviors of others. Although leadership and management are often related, they
are not the same thing. Leadership involves such things as developing a vision, communicating
that vision, and directing change. Management, meanwhile, focuses more on outlining
procedures, monitoring results, and working toward outcomes.
9-2. Summarize the basic premises underlying the trait approach to leadership.
