Automakers had a recall of 53.2 million automobiles in 2016 in the United States. It was
mainly due to the airbag inflators that was made by Takata Corp. They were installed in
automobiles made for Toyota, Subaru, Mazda. and BMW. This caused a massive expansion in
automobile recalls. (Shepardson, 2017)
The automotive manufactures issued a record of 927 recall campaigns under the Obama
administration. It was up by 7 presents over 2015. In 2015 the recall was 51.1 million
automobiles. This was the third straight year that auto safety recalls in the United States set a
record. The twenty years prior the United States automobile recalls were mainly between 10.2
