Abstract /Summary
The automakers had a recall 53.2 million automobiles in 2016. This is mainly due to the Takata
airbag inflators. The Takata airbag inflators are aligned to sixteen deaths worldwide. United States
regulators believe the recall will affect about 42 million automobiles. This has created an automaker
crisis because they approved the Takata airbags for installing in the automobiles. The Takata airbags
have been linked to at least sixteen deaths.
Automakers had a recall of 53.2 million automobiles in 2016 in the United States. It was
mainly due to the airbag inflators that was made by Takata Corp. They were installed in
automobiles made for Toyota, Subaru, Mazda. and BMW. This caused a massive expansion in
automobile recalls. (Shepardson, 2017)
The automotive manufactures issued a record of 927 recall campaigns under the Obama
administration. It was up by 7 presents over 2015. In 2015 the recall was 51.1 million
automobiles. This was the third straight year that auto safety recalls in the United States set a
record. The twenty years prior the United States automobile recalls were mainly between 10.2
million to 30.8 million. (Shepardson, 2017)
Takata is guilty of making faulty airbag inflators. Takata did plead guilty to a felony
charge as part of a one-billion-dollar deal with the Justice Department of the United States. The
