Authentic Leadership
Authentic leaders who “understand their own values, place followers’ needs above their
own, and work with followers to align their interests in order to create a greater common good”
are examples of leadership because of self-awareness, internalized moral perspective, balanced
processing, and relational transparency. Self-awareness is when a leader knows who they truly
are and stick to their own values, beliefs, and emotions. Internalized moral perspective is using
set moral standards as a guide for certain behaviors. Balance process is being able to analyze
information and listen to other’s opinion before making a judgement. Finally, relational
transparency is being open and honest with yourself and others.
