Abstract:
The solar system we live in is very complex, but also very orderly. We have the Sun in the center with eight
planets revolving around it in a counterclockwise order. Of these planets, the fourth planet from the Sun is
Mars. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a very interes ng history and although we do not know every detail
about Mars, we have unveiled a signi!cant amount of data. Through observa on and explora on of
astronomers over the ages astronomers have come to know many details about Mars. These details include;
atmospheric condi ons, characteris cs of its makeup, its orbit, and its personality.

Atmosphere:
Mars has unique atmospheric condi ons which are due to not only its distance from the Sun, but the
composi on of the air. The surface temperature of Mars ranges from -87 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius
but the average is -63 degrees Celsius. (Mihos, C.,
2006) Due to these extremely cold temperatures
humans would have a very hard me living on Mars
just based on temperature alone. The humidity of
Mars is almost none, there is only .03% water vapor in
the air. While this gives some hope that there could
be water on Mars to harbor life, it’s not quite enough.
The air on Mars is composed of 95% carbon dioxide,
