Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show Sir Richard Branson’s management style as a leader
of the Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson has challenged his business leaders to improve the
critical state of the modern workforce with training and employee support. Sir Branson’s
charismatic and transformational leadership styles have to empower his leaders by giving them
the autonomy to make business decisions to drive the company forward.
Richard Branson was born Richard Charles Nicholas Branson on July 18, 1950, in
Surrey, England. Branson left school at 16 to start his first business, the magazine Student. Sir
Richard Branson is the founder and CEO of the Virgin Group, founded in 1970. In 1973 he was
the co-founder of Virgin Group records. The Virgin Group is now a privately held diversified
holding company. The Virgin Group engages in industries of entertainment, health & wellness,
aerospace, environment, telecom & tech, travel, hotels, restaurants, cruise services, vineyards,
trains, credit cards, home loans and many other businesses. The company has a presence in
Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, Mexico,
Middle East, Russia, South Africa, UK, USA. The company currently employees approximately
