Chapter 4
1. Benchmarking – Studying whether a firm has resources and abilities to accomplish a specific
action in a way superior to opponents.
2. Business process outsourcing (BPO) – Outsourcing business processes to third-party providers.
3. Capability – The tangible and intangible assets a company utilizes to select and apply its
approaches.
4. Captive sourcing – Setting up companies abroad so that the job completed is in-house but the
place is foreign. Also recognized as foreign direct investment (FDI).
5. Casual ambiguity – The struggle of classifying the real source of a company’s effective
performance.
6. Commoditization – A procedure of marketplace rivalry through which distinctive products that
command elevated amounts and elevated restrictions progressively lose their capability to do so,
thus becoming commodities.
