QUESTION TWO:
In the years between 1900 and 1930, modernization began to sweep through civilizations
in East Asia. Advances in technology, education systems, transportation, and communication
were made possible for countries during this time. The modernization/westernization of these
East Asian civilizations are significant in transforming these countries into what they are today.
It is often problematic to apply the concept of modernization to Asian history because this
suggests that East Asia is isolated with all non western civilizations and therefore insinuates that
