The back-and-forth fight for dominance between Western and Eastern culture
has gone on for centuries. Since the West began to attempt to achieve a powerful cultural
hegemony over the East, the study of Eastern culture, Orientalism, has become distorted.
When described from the Western perspective, the Orient tends to have the connotation
of something nebulous and exotic, a metaphysical representation;
however, most Orientalists study the Orient by searching in it for a reflection of themselv
