The article “How Shameful Policies Increase American’s Gun Violence” written by
Trevor Burrus, stated the author looks at the problem and solutions to gun violence in America
from a different perspective as compared to traditional solutions. He points out that poor policies
made by the federal government are the leading cause of the high rates of gun violence in
America. Top among this is continued war on drugs which has made illegal substances highly
profitable so demanding unprincipled business tactics amongst its traders, especially in inner
cities amongst African American youths. These have to resort to violent means to sort out their
issues and rivalries since legal methods do not apply in such a context and subsequently a very
