Introduction
There was a new chicken in town and it wasn’t long before it ruffled some feathers.
Popeye’s, an American multinational chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants, took social
media by storm when it launched its new, spicy chicken sandwich on August 12, 2019. The
launch went mostly unnoticed until a Twitter war erupted between the fast food industry’s major
chicken sandwich pushers, igniting a national debate on whose version was better. Chik-fil-A,
