Read the following article and analyze the expert’s opinion that art can be a generator of
“identity” for a community, and examine what is meant by the statement that “public art
‘humanizes’ cities.”
When Becker says that “public art humanizes cities,” what he means is that they are
pieces that are something that can be viewed as interactive artwork. What this means is that
people can leave notes, share pictures on social media. One example was a giant chalk board in
New Orleans (Haley, 2014). When looking at different pieces of art and how it reflects to a
