Exploratory Analysis
Divorce is something that is becoming more and more common amongst families in
America every year. It is an unfortunate fact of what family life is coming too nowadays.
More and more often partners are not feeling the same connection that they once felt with
each other. However, there is one factor that people do not often realize when they are
thinking about getting a divorce. And that is, how it will effect their children. Obviously,
this only applies to the families that have actually had children prior too the decision to
split apart. This topic is interesting to me because of my personal background. I come from
a family that my parents separated when I was about 7 or 8 years old. At the time, I did not
understand the gravity of this situation. It was not until years later that I finally grasped the
full understanding of what divorce really meant. I personally feel as though my parents
getting a divorce did effect and alter the way I was brought up and the shaping of the man
that I am today. Now the real question is: How does divorce effect the future success of the
children in the family?
It is now a fact that nowadays in America 50% of marriages end in a divorce. This is an
extremely unfortunate statistic. It is beyond unfair to the children within the families to
have to deal with something so traumatizing when there is little to nothing that they can
