AR stands for Augmented Reality. It’s when 3D animated graphics have been placed overtop what you
see in the real world. VR stands for Virtual Reality. With this technology, you can immerse yourself in a
full 360-degree virtual world view. This both brings people and virtual element into the real world.
According to (Hostello, 2017), virtual reality has the potential to make investors as much money as the
early stage smartphone and it is said that by 2020, the VR industry will be worth $120 billion. This is such
a big amount of money for investment. And that is just like the tip of the iceberg. Coming from the
TrendForce estimates the VR market to be worth $22.4 billion by 2020, with most of that coming from
software sales. This number excludes mobile VR (like the SamsungGear VR), but other forecasts that
include mobile VR in the mix put the market size at closer to $30 billion. He also stated that, for years,
AR and VR has been the darling of the tech industry and to admit, it is because technology likes money
and nothing spells money like AR and VR’s widespread commercial application.
Though this brings a big amount of investment, it really has its potential to be used in any field or
industry. Currently, VR is already being used to train new military recruits. Military industry which
always remains into lookout for new ideas is slowly emerging as one of the major investors into VR
