Background
As an apprentice I am going to use the Gibbs cycle reflection model to discuss my
general experience as an observer and a participate while working in National Health
Service Public Health Department Dental Team . This model helps me to look at the
situation and evaluate my thought and feelings and if the same similar experience
arises again the knowledge, which I have gained would be used to help the situation…
This models breaks down my experiences into six stages , first ,the introduction or
description of the situation, secondly, making an analysis of the feeling and experience
as an observer and a participate . Thirdly, Evaluation of the experience , fourthly,
Analysing the overall experience , Fifth, conclusion of what could have been done, lastly,
Action that would be taken if faced with similar situation.
INTRODUCTION
I was allocated to National Health Service public health department in Kirkland
Lanarkshire . Public health is all about helping people to stay healthy and promote
healthy lifestyle.
The Public health department is divided into the 3 main domain;
• Health Protection team : they are involved in protecting people’s health such
addressing Biological and Environment threat.
• Health improvement team – they are involved in improving healthy lifestyle of
the community like helping people to quit smoking, Alcohol Etc .
• Health public team – helping to ensure that the public health service is very
efficient and effective.
ANALYSIS
As a participant I was allocated to the dental team project of Lanarkshire . The project I
was assigned to create a care pathway for dental Bariatric Adult in Lanarkshire. This
was Due the health issues which is associated to the Risk implication when assessing
obese and overweight patient with regards to administering dental treatment .
The dental health department has a well-structured organogram comprising of the
director of public health, director of dental health, head of department , consultants and
other support workers. On my first day of resumption I met with the director of public
health and one of the consultants who explained to me the project I was going to be
