Your TA Emily Hood
Date 9/4/14
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
Like all of the assignments in this course, this one requires you to apply what you have learned
to the world in which you live. To appreciate art, you have to see it around you! Not all art is in
museums. The vast majority is out in the world.
The first unit of the course introduced you to different artistic media and the array of formal
elements and principles of design artists use to make art in these media. You will demonstrate
your mastery of course content finding works of different categories of media and displaying
the requested formal element or principle of design. You will also explain how the object
embodies the medium and formal element or principle of design. Choose your examples
carefully, as your grade depends on the quality of your selection and justification.
You may not use images from the unit (in the pdf file or the unit text).
