Remove 2/3 slices-this is unproductive areas of the ocean. The remaining slice is the food productive
areas, where there are nutrients.
The peel represents the photic zone (top 330 feet) where light can support photosynthesis in algae, blue
green bacteria, and plants, the producers of the ocean food chain.
