3. I think the needs they are talking about mostly food, water, clothing, and a home,
but when I think about some needs I would say electricity, toilet, running water and
a bed too. I think some of my needs would not meet the needs of a low-throughput
economy because I would not reuse or recycle everything I used. Also I would not
use renewable resources as slow as they would prefer as well.
4. Right away environmental regulation would most likely hurt the economy because
it would increase the price of goods. But overtime the economy would even out and
people would look for goods that are better for the economy and also cheaper. And
over time the environment would become more sustainable as well due to the use of
substitute resources. Some harmful environmental regulations could be making it
so we can only use very little of a product without finding a substitute for it.
Another harmful environmental regulation would be to tax everything so heavily so
that people don’t buy any products and get foreign companies to make their goods
and buy it from them. A beneficial environmental resource would be to add some of
the cost of production and future environmental impact into the price of the product
so that there is money to create a more sustainable environment.
5. Some harmful effects in my life may be that I would not be able to purchase all of
the things that I have bought. I most likely would be driving a different, better gas
mileage car too. Some beneficial effects would be that I wouldn’t have to worry
about the future and whether I’ll die of pollution or not. My children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren would also be in a much better state. While everything
would be more expensive, they would mostly find more sustainable solutions and so
of they dont hurt the environment as much they would be less money.
