Body Image is Relative
Cultural differences are highlighted in how we perceive things, approach life and daily
and challenges, and even in how we see ourselves. Physical distance once averted globalization
of any one culture, but with the expansion of widespread media, smart devices, and the internet,
cultural diversity in body image finds itself endangered. As different cultures begin to engage
with each other, the culture with the most political and economic power changes the other
(Crapo, 2013).
Americans have long influenced body image in the western world, and with the help of
the internet and television, this influence has extended its arm to more secluded cultures
