Answer:
Based on the general provisions of article 1 of Law of the Republic of
Indonesia Number 21 of 2000 concerning Workers’ / Labor Unions, a trade union
is an organization formed from, by and for workers both inside and outside the
company, which is free, open, independent. , democratic, and responsible to fight
for, defend and protect the rights and interests of workers and improve the
welfare of workers and their families. In accordance with article 102 of the 2003
Manpower Act, in carrying out industrial relations, workers and trade unions
have the function of carrying out work in accordance with their obligations,
maintaining order for the continuity of production, channeling aspirations in a
democratic manner, developing skills and expertise as well as participating in
advancing companies and fighting for welfare. members and their families.
Meanwhile, according to Law No.21 of 2000 concerning Trade Unions /
Workers’ Unions, the function of the union includes the making of Collective
Labor Agreements (PKB), settling industrial disputes, representing workers in
councils or institutions related to labor affairs, and defending the rights and
interests of union members.
The role of trade unions in establishing working relationships with
employers is an interest that must be considered by employers because labor
unions are an effective and aspirational means of communication that can
contribute to the interests of workers and companies in the production process, a
protective means for workers, in addition to a means of conveying messages
regarding company conditions and maintaining work peace, a motivator for work
ethic and a means of struggle for the fate of workers.
Trade unions also function to build conducive and proportional industrial
(work) relations in safeguarding workers’ interests because they have strategic
values, namely: First, trade unions to protect workers from being unable to fight
