A. Student’s Strengths and Weaknesses
My focus student “Joseph King” has many areas that need intervention, as well as many
areas where he exhibits strengths. My student has been going through a difficult emotional time
in his life the past few months as he is changing his living situation. His parents are currently
going through a divorce and the student is in the process of moving in with his grandparents. My
student has been suspected before of having trouble with learning which means he has different
strengths and weaknesses in specific content areas.
One of his weaknesses include oral communication difficulties, Joseph often lies when he
speaks with adults and teachers. He also has a habit of mumbling and talking very low, while
assessing him in various areas I had to ask him to repeat what he had said. Another factor that I
noticed needed attention was the fact that Joseph kept answering survey with one word answers
and little elaboration.
