Annotated Bibliography
A Dinosaur Topic of Interest
Purpose: To explore through scientific literature, a dinosaur or a dinosaur related topic of your
choosing.
Result: An annotated bibliography from literature exploration that summarizes and analyzes four (4)
peer-reviewed sources relevant to a chosen dinosaur genus OR topic about dinosaurs.
Steps:
1a. Present your chosen dinosaur genus or dinosaur topic to your instructor, Rocky Freeman for
approval. Office hours, appointments or e-mail are available. Deadline is November 15th @5 p.m.
Any e-mail discussion should be completed by this time. freemanv@marietta.edu.
1b. The same time as the approval of your topic, you will inform me of the reference style, by name,
to be used for your bibliographic information. The only condition is it must be from an accepted
published format with obvious information consistency.
2. Locate scientific literature focused on your area of dinosaur interest. These must be chapters
from scholarly books (not textbooks) or articles found within scholarly scientific journals, not blogs or
scientific summaries or Wiki sites.
3. Compose the annotated bibliography – the bibliographic citation is followed by:
✓ The annotation for each citation, will consist of a brief but specific paragraph or two
summarizing the strongest points of the article.
✓ An additional paragraph in the annotation will clarify the relevance of the source to
the dinosaur topic of interest.
4. Submit your annotated bibliography to Turn-It–In through the Geol 104 Dinosaurs MOODLE page.
✓ A cover page is required with: your name, the title (focus of your dinosaur research),
Geol_104 Dinosaurs, & Fall 2017. This information can be presented in a format of your
