Hungry for Change. By Andrew Veitch. Prod. Dick Bower, Ben Summers, Richard
Wilson, and Anya Sitaram. Dir. Ben Summers. SW Pictures Ltd, 2010.
The Documentary “Hungry For Change” stars some of the most famous doctors
and nutritionists on the planet. The key to the show is to give the public a glimpse of the
terrible obesity problem in America. The United States is one of the fattest and
unhealthiest countries in the world, according to statistics, and this is because we all fall
into the food company’s trap every day. “It’s just like selling cigarettes. You put
chemicals in food that make people want it again and again. That’s how companies get
customers for life. By adding addictive chemicals that keep us coming back for more.”
Says Dr. Mercola an author and osteopathic physician featured in the documentary.
Hungry for Change gives you the chance to hear from multiple doctors, naturopaths, and
cancer victims that have completely changed their life around- strictly with diet, not
chemotherapy.
This documentary is probably one of my favorite sources because it contains so
much valid information from professional people. I get to see the statistics and facts
about my topic and how it relates to real people as well. One of the guests in the
documentary Kris Carr (Author of Crazy Sexy Cancer) was diagnosed in her early
thirties. After researching and meeting some of the doctors in the show, she completely
reversed her fate solely on diet. I completely agree with all the arguments made in the
documentary because every claim that is made is perfectly backed up with true evidence.
What I want to understand and include in my research paper is how these chemicals and
toxins are aloud in our grocery stores. I want to find court cases with the FDA (Food and
Drug Administration) and get to the bottom of why we are the unhealthiest, high income-
country in the world.
“Fat free normally means its loaded with sugar…but what happens once sugar is
ingested in the body? It’s stored in the body as fat. It is not fat that makes you fat,
it’s sugar that makes you fat!”
“We need to realize that sugar is a drug just like Heroin.” -Dr. Christine Northrup
