Ann Lyman’s Proposal – Power and Influence
There are several factors that Ann must consider when selecting an influence strategy. The
company she is at, has not had to change in a long time, therefore they will most likely be resistant to
change. Especially those people that have worked at the company for a long time. They will use the
excuse that what they have been doing has always worked, so why change now. Another challenge that
Ann may face is influencing her counterparts in the other departments. They may feel superior to her as
they have more time at the company and she is new. She will have to convince them that she is right
and her proposal will work. The last challenge I will mention, is the fact that all employees will be forced
into unknown territory as they will be expanding their product line and offering more options to their
customer.
