Animal rights – not explicitly defined to general public
• Associated to designation of property ie. Owner is in control
• Advocacy groups aim to express that animals inherently want rights too
Philosopher Tom Regan claims that animals want to continue their own lives
Animals can’t receive freedom like that of slaves, we must make compromises between dog and owner
ie. Dog stays home in return for love, shelter food, just like man works hard to afford his limited
freedom.
Absolute freedom of dog is not sustainable – dogs have adapted to live with people. Release in the wild
is deadly.
