Medical advancements are growing more extraordinary by the day. The dynamic
attributes of said advancements are paving the way for lives to be saved in new, progressive
ways. In the case of Gwen Finlayson, her transplantation epitomized this progression
(Williams, 2019). Liver transplants, or hepatectomies, are fulfilled by a healthy graft of a
right lobe being transferred from a donor into another host. Gwen happened to have a match
in her son Brandon, a married father of five. Her fear for his safety caused her to continually
deny his help until doctors came up with a new approach to a years-old procedure. Doctors
used extensive research to find a simpler way with significantly less risk for this mother and
