Analyzing the Values of Buck v. Bell
With Nazis citing Buck v. Bell to justify their actions during World War II, the concerned
American citizen in me is left wondering how on Earth the Supreme Court of the United States
ruled 8-1 in favor of the compulsory sterilization of feeble minded individuals for the protection
and health of the state. Certainly times were different in the year 1927, but it is stunning to think
that our collective humanity and morality was so much different then than it is today. Perhaps
the silver lining from this ruling is that our society has since made immeasurable progress in the
right direction. Nonetheless, it is imperative to analyze this monumental court case by taking
