Analyzing All Aspects of a Problem
In our daily life, we will encounter many different difficulties, which range from some
easy math questions to some serious natural disasters. People will come up with many different
kinds of solutions to resolve the problems. In the book Superfreakonomics, the authors, Steven
D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner state, “The most amazing thing about cheap and simple fixes is
they often address problems that seem impervious to any solution” (141). According to the
authors, nitrate fertilizers reduce famine by developing agriculture, seat belts reduce the number
of deaths, vaccines reduce polio deaths, and oils reduce the slaughter of whales. Nitrate
fertilizers, seat belts, the vaccine, oil are all simple fixes. It seems that simple solutions can solve
serious problems. However, in my opinion, simple fixes are not the best solutions to problems
because these fixes sometimes overlook people’s reactions to the solutions, which may result in
