The Fear of Death in “The Fall of the House of Usher”
Roderick Usher is afraid of his own death in light of his sisters’ ailments.
In his short story “The Fall of the House of Usher,” Edgar Allan Poe masterfully creates
the atmosphere of total horror and decadence. The author depicts Roderick’s physical and moral
state, malady, and fears through the description of the interior and exterior of the gloomy
mansion. It seems that every word in the story expresses fear, horror, and terrifying feelings of
