The film The Graduate (1967) follows the story of a young man, Benjamin, fresh out of
college and back at home. First Benjamin is seduced by an older married woman, Mrs.
Robinson, the two enter into an affair however after some time he reluctantly goes on date with
the woman’s daughter, Elaine. Ben quickly falls for the girl who soon discovers the affair.
Despite her family’s efforts Ben is able to steal the girl away from her impending wedding to
another man. The Graduate features themes of isolation and alienation arising on multiple
