Interview for my Ex-Coworker
Introduction
I am interested to know about someone’s culture and that
person’s work experiences. Therefore, I set the stage for
Ms. Evangeline but we call her Vange. The reason that I
have chosen her for this interview was, I worked with her
for the last 5 years and I know her experience is hopefully
helping to the ideas of our cultural situation. Personally, she
doesn’t have any relationship with me, but my exco
worker and we used to share the same office.
Regard to her social identity, she is from Philippine and she
speaks Filipino, her intersectionality is much known as a
woman and color people. And she said that her mother is
from Russian and Dad is from Filipino. Therefore she is
racially integrated or thoroughly interracial. Her social
position and ways of thinking also encourage me to have
her for this interview.
Q: The first interview question was focus on her
autobiographical and academic background, and work
experiences.
A: She responded that first I can say thank you for having
me and I am also very happy to speak about myself. My
name is Evangeline and my family background is thoroughly
from Philippine as you know me very well. I came from a
large family size, we are 11 in number (the same mother
and dad), among those siblings, 6 of them are female and 5
are male. Now a day I have also a gramma of 6 kids. My
academic background, I have two BAs, one in computer
technician and another BA in sociology from the University
of Philippine. I have working experience for more than 20
years as an employee of different organizations. And for the
last 10 years, I opened my own computer accessories selling
store back home, and still, now my oldest son has been
operating the business.
Q: the family cultural traditions, education, and goals in a
career.
A: oh… as to me, those three things (cultural traditions,
education, and goals in career) go together. My cultural
traditions by itself make me have a transparent cultural
environment within all communities and the people
working and living with me. Because cultural transparency
is essential to everything and it also allows the community
to share their knowledge and play an active role in creating
the desired culture.
From her response, the cultural transparency point touched
me. As a teacher, I want to encourage each student to share
