Suspended
I’ve always wondered how it felt like to be suspended in school, because in my school,
you suddenly get this respect from all the other students and you are looked at with a sort
of coolness, but I never really wanted to feel it first hand, because my parents would
definitely not appreciate it and it will not end well for me . But in the last year of my high
school, I got that chance to see how it felt. I have been studying in a boarding school since
first grade all the way till high school in a hilly region called the Nilgiris in south India,
some two hours from my home, and when were in the hostel we were not allowed out of
school except only when we could go home and so obviously I never really got a chance
hang outside of school with friends.
After we came to high school, a couple of my friends and myself always liked to sneak
away from school, go into town, hang out there until our free time was up and then we
would sneak back in. This was easy because there were students in school who came to
school daily from home, so we would tell the security guard that we were students who
came from home and go out in the evening after school and return back before the free
time was over which was usually an hour. In town, we would usually go somewhere to eat
or go buy something or just hang out.
There was this one particular day when we got too ambitious. I was in 12th grade, and in
my state the 12th grade marks are considered very important because they decide your
entry into college. And as always, the 12th grade students weren’t given much holidays. So
after the short winter vacations, we had to come early to attend special classes and the
other students would come 10 to 13 days later to school, and the day they came would
usually be a holiday and they were allowed to come until late that night to school.
So my group of friends, including myself, around 6 guys decided to go out in to town that
day, eat out, watch a movie and the come back to school late that night. So we went two by
two to the guard and told that we were 11th grade students and we just came to school that
