Amoris Laetitia No. 47
People with special needs are special not because they are different but because they are beloved.
If you will look at every person you see, everyone’s actually different and no two persons are
alike even if they are twins. Despite the fact that there is no standard of what is normal, people
still see them differently. They think that persons with special needs are unfortunate but it is the
other way around. The love that is coming from them and the love that their family gives to them
are the truest love you’ll feel and that is not unfortunate at all.
When I was a child I do not understand why there are people who look different and act very
needy. I used to think their disabilities make them inferior from others but that notion of mine
was wrong. I also do not agree with the text stating that they are persons with disabilities and that
they are disadvantaged. Their incapability to do some things is not a disability. All of us have
incapability of something, nobody’s perfect and no one deserve to be labelled as disabled.
A special person gives every people the opportunity to grow, not just in love but in all aspects of
life. If we let the Holy Spirit’s grace flow to us, then maybe we can see what the eyes do not. It is
the beauty that lies within them, the gift of God that makes everything in equilibrium. We should
learn the value of human life, starting from ourselves up to every people. A love that radiates
from special persons that everyone should see and not miss.
