There are two main types of solar energy in current solar technologies. One is solar thermal,
and another is solar electric. The differences are as fllowing:
Because of greater tax incentives, photovoltaic sales had grown faster than solar thermal
sales.
Solar-thermal systems produced more solar energy per square foot and cost less than
solar-electric systems. While solar-thermal systems collected about 20-40 percent of
available solar energy, solar-electric systems collected only about 10 percent of available
sunlight.
Solar-thermal systems converted solar energy into useful heat, and solar-electric systems
converted it into useful electricity.
Solar-thermal system could produce hear for as low as $5-6 per million BTU, which is
